1000 years ago the Caledonia Forest expanded across the whole of Scotland and enabled the evolution of several unique species of animal, funghi and plants that are only found in Scotland
99% of the Forest has been lost due to shipbuilding and deforestation and now there are only solitary pockets surviving, the largest of which is in the Cairngorms National Park
My goal is to document the natural history of this unique habitat through the medium of photography. Examining the landscape, the plants that create it, the animals that inhabit it and the conservation efforts being made to protect and expand this vital green space
Follow along on the journey by staying up to date through my Caledonia Project Monthly Bulletinโฆ
