A glorious day gave me the idea to head out and do some wildlife photography, my target Mountain Hares. Surprisingly I found an individual relatively quickly and over time I was able to move into a position that should’ve given good images. However, the heavens opened and I was stood on the hill for a long time before the hare graced me with some great images!
After a successful landscape photography shoot in the foggy Cairngorm mountains, I turned my attention to my next subject: Ptarmigan. I was to spend the day looking for ptarmigan with the hope of capturing some wildlife photography images, but the weather decided not to co-operate with me. Being rained off the mountain without any pictures, I did some research about ptarmigan behaviour to better know my subject.
A whole day of photographing Red Grouse in purple flowering heather. After the first couple of encounters went awry, it was great to finally get close to some red grouse and get some cracking images that I’m really happy with! The red grouse look great surrounded by the purple and pink colours of the heather!
Ater a long day on the computer, I went out to photograph some red deer in the quickly vanishing snow. Going to one of my favourite locations I manage to encounter several red deer males with full racks of antlers. I got some images, which I really love and witnessed some mild antler wrestling. A great evening of wildlife photography!
